Shortbread

Ingredients :

125g sugar

225g butter + a little extra to grease the tray

350g plain flour

Pinch of salt

 

Beat the sugar and butter together in a large bowl    

Sift in the flour and salt to form a stiff dough

Turn the dough out onto a floured surface

Knead the dough for a few moments


Chill the dough in the fridge for 10 – 15 minutes.

Preheat the oven to 180°c / gas mark 4

Roll out the dough 1 cm thick on a floured surface

Cut out shapes with the different pastry cutters

Place on greased baking sheet and bake in the oven for 10 – 15 minutes

Remove the biscuits from the oven and leave to cool for 10 minutes

Place the biscuits on a wire rack to cool completely
